Greetings,
I'm new to forum but have been a happy MO owner since '03.
I just passed the 50K mark and 'things' are going wrong.
The latest is that the NAV zoom feature just went away. It's sitting at the 1/16mi scale and beeps on touch of left button and does nothing when I touch the right button.
I am still running original NAV s/w without any upgrades.
I pulled the DVD and cleaned it to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas?
My questions:
How do you 'reboot' the NAV computer?
And, if I spend the $190US does it upgrade the firmware as well as the maps?
If it does maybe it's worth it.
Thanks in advance. |

Hi Ken,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your NAV unit. From your description it is difficult to determine whether it is a hardware or software problem.
I would guess that the NAV unit reboots every time your turn the ignition on, but I am not sure if there is a "lower level" reboot or not.
To answer your question about upgrading the map DVD, I recently upgraded to version 6.5 and it came with two discs, one is the DVD map itself and the other is a firmware upgrade for the NAV unit itself, so yes, you do get a firmware upgrade when you upgrade to the newest MAP DVD.
Cheers!

It is amazing to me how restrictive the software is. One is always flying blind (no pun intended) as to what is going on.
It is software that only the French could love.
For some reason, the zoom feature returned although it is not as responsive as before.
Did you see any positive changes after you upgraded the firmware?

kentek-
I don't have NAV, so I am "flying blind" on this one, but maybe it is not a problem with the software. Maybe it is a problem with the button itself.

You could be correct. I think I will use a shot of compressed air to see it the problem goes away.
It was really weird. Everything was working and all of a sudden no zoom. Could be dust. |
