60 Months / 100000 Miles 8/24/2012 148,000 $975
This is an extension on the 2004 MO at 48K right now. Getting close to the 5 year marker and buh-bye 5/60 powertrane at that time.
This is really just a basic warranty, not all the frills but it would ease the mind regarding CVT questions in the future. Click the link to see what it covers and plug in your stats. I just used the Primary as my main goal is the powertrane and some other key components.

From what I'm told through my car buying service at work, they are a long term reputable company and not a fly by night that's likely to go away like some others. They write 300 contracts a month with this company called Mercury Insurance.
You have to plug in the year, 2wd or 4wd stuff like that and the current miles.
So this coverage adds 100K miles and 5 years starting now.
I don't know, it's like betting you will break down and they are betting you won't! Still a nice piece of mind to know you keep running till 2012 on the warranty.

OK an update to my own post. The insurance group called me and said they have a special through Labor day.
825.00 for the above coverage for the primary plan. ( Drive Train)
Maybe not so good after all.
Reading the fine print now and I see this:
Aggregate - The total of all claims paid or payable per Breakdown Coverage while this service Contract is in force shall in no event exceed the aggregate of three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) for engine/water pump claim(s), two thousand dollar ($2000.00) for transmission/transaxle claim(s), and fifteen hundred dollars ($1500.00) for transfer case claim(s). The total aggregate of all claims paid or payable for all Breakdown Coverages collectively shall be the lesser of sixty five hundred dollars ($6500.00) or the Actual Cash Value of Your Vehicle at the time of loss.
So my idea was to protect the 6500 CVT and I see the 2K max?
Brother, I should delete this post>

No! Can you think of a better way to inform your fellow MO owners about coverages like this, which really do not cover what we might think they do? Good job bob1.....:) |

| This is the reason I am getting rid of the Murano. In 9 months time....no more CVT for me... |

Are you sure this warranty covers you for an additional 5 years and 100000 miles? The Nissan extended warranty covers one for 7 years/100000 miles which is 2 years and 40000 additional miles beyond the 5/60000 mile power-train warranty. |

Kris,
Same here. It's ironic; it was the CVT that brought me to the MO in the first place, and now it is the reason I will be getting rid of it when the warranty goes.

Yeah it does as I put the new stats on the top of my post.
I have 48K now and it will cover me through 148K.
That's the proof as I had wondered. It said good through odometer of 148K and 2012.
I would have bit on that if they did not have limits on repairs. It would be worth it if they would replace the CVT for free under warranty.

Joe,
as you I was impressed with the CVT. This slight rubbery feel is more than offset but the amazingly smooth drive-train and perfect behavior in mountains. I am not, however willing to pay $6k to repair transmission on 5 - 6 year old car. In a few weeks I am starting my selection process. I will miss my Murano as it has been fantastic all around car.
Back to the topic - I would advise everybody get Nissan factory backed extended warranty. All the third parties somehow make me feel uncomfortable.... |

That was a big concern for me. The only peace of mind I had was the stats from this service. My credit union has this car buying service called Car Solutions. They said they write 300 contracts a month with them. I called the insurance company called Mercury and they have been in business for 61 years. Not doing car stuff but I guess they have done other insurance for 61 years.
Still I grilled them and asked what happens if they go south?
All I got was their reassurance that they are a long term company and not a fly by night.
Still............. comfort is not as good as a factory warranty.
