I have left the Murano family, appreciate all the tips and help that the various board members have provided!
I needed a more economical car for work so I have gone to a Civic-Ex... drives as if on rails and the normal Honda quality is apparent in abundance. |

Sharlin-
Once you get some seat time in the Civic-EX give us a comparative review of it.

I can give a 250 mile comparison.
First off, the Civic isn't as powerful as the Murano, not by far, but it does get and scoot if you want ti to.
Second, the Civic is much quieter than the Murano, even though you are closer to the road. I think the bulk of this is from door seals on the Civic that are just so much better than the Murano's its laughable.
It really is hard to compare a coupe to a crossover so I will stick with noticeable brand differences.
Fit and Finish, Honda is hands down much better at it than Nissan. Quality of interior controls is remarkably better to considering the Civic is an 16-22k car.
When it comes to options on a Honda they are simply done by changing the trim level. No packages, just trim types. Apparently this is where Honda is going. Pick a trim level and colors. Navigation seems only option and thats on one trim level only.
iPod integration sucks. Earphone connector can couple iPod to Civic. There is supposedly a cable version that connects like a dock but reviews consider it trash.
Did I mention it was quiet? I would suggest to anyone who thinks they have too much wind noise or road noise leaking in on their Murano to investigate double or triple groove seals.
Oh, stereo, the 350w system is comparable to the Murano's Bose system. No in dash 6cd is offered.
Mileage? 30+ but haven't burned a whole tank yet.
Exterior lighting. Old school but amazingly bright on high beams... astounding for stock bulbs. Never looked at it from the rear.
Oh, dash. Go see a civic or look it up online. Spaceship on wheels are what the coupes are.
Maintenance is - when it tells you to get an oil change. Every other one do the tires. 30k, do the air filter. |
