Am I the only Gal?? - Click HERE for Original Thread

It seems that this forum is populated with just guys. You are all incredibly smart guys that can work on your own Mo's. I have to rely on the dealer to do all my work.

No matter, I love my Lady just the same.

Thank you all for your great patience with me and my "mouth" -- and sometimes stupidity. You are all truly gentlemen.

You are not the only gal on this forum, but you are definitely in the minority.

I do not believe that you are the only one...

As to asking questions: how one can learn if one does not ask? Asking questions is an art. So do it please...;)

Keep the questions coming! Thats how I learn things around here - you never know when some obscure fact will help someone else months or years down the line when they do a search.

Enjoy the ride in the "Lady." :)

Well, I'm not female, but I certainly don't trust myself to work on my car more than just doing oil changes. And God knows I've asked my share of questions on this forum! :D

If you are the only Gal then you must be the smartes one. Asking good questions, interested enough in your GAL to keep her great.

It's very nice having you here. Stay here. Don

A girl on our site... NO WAY.... GET OUT OF HERE !!! I'm just joking around... I would care if you or anyone here were a monkey, as long as you own a Murano, you are cool in my book !!

Hey all... I wanted to share that my wife just returned her retal car for 24 hrs she had while her Impala (company car) was getting work done on it. She had a 2007, S model.. and I didn't drive it, but she said it drove really slow, it felt 'heavy' on the road she said. She didn't like driving it at all... she drove MY murano last night.. and said it drove a million times better.

I though they all have the same engine... no? I know the shocks could be different... I put plus in my car, this prob only had regular... but should there be that big of a difference??? I didn't get a chance to drive it, so I'm going on what my wife is telling me. Any idea's?

The S and SL share the same engine, struts, shocks, etc. The only difference is in the standard equipment list. The different gas grades would have an almost negligible effect on the performance. I think the "sluggishness" was more perception than reality.

It's always great to have the female view:D . So glad you share with us your Mo and your questions. I use to repair(with some exceptions of course) all of our vehicles but I have decided to keep my hands off of our 2007 Mo. I've gotten lazy in my later years.;)

Thank you all for such great support. My SL drives beautifully (not heavy at all) on the road. It is definitely not the sleek, low-slung car like the Impala. She handles the road like a dream and passes cars going up steep grades like she was wearing a jetpack.

Sometimes my tongue-in-cheek dry humor gets me in trouble. Other than that, I feel quite comfortable here and would not leave for anything.

ON A SIDENOTE: Regarding the stock horn. I have asked Nissan and our dealership what decibel level the horn honks at. Would you believe that no one could answer this question??? Nissan didn't really care. I finally got an answer from an internet company that sells after-market products. They said that the OEM horn usually are about 90-100dB. I purchased that PIAA replacement horn. It has a 115dB level. Probably my best option right now as I don't want to go for the air horn and extra wiring. My dealership is going to do what it takes to plug in the new horn when I go in for the oil change.

SIDE-SIDENOTE: I got a call back from Nissan after a scathing e-mail to them. Customer Service is going to do the research it takes to find out the exact decibel level of the horn. They don't want an unhappy customer. I have a big mouth and am not afraid to use it. If I am not happy about a service (or lack thereof) everyone is going to know it.

You guys are the greatest.

It is not surprising that your dealer does not have the dB specs for the horn. It is not something that is ever measured. The horn either works or it doesn't. Even the Service Manual does not reference the dBs. You may owe your dealer extra donuts for this one.

Hi Dianne,

WAIT A SECOND! Mo is a girl?!? Aw crap. ;)

Also, I suck at repairs - so apparently you and I are both relegated to dealers. My advice to you - avoid them at all costs. Nissan dealers are the king (and or queens) or rip off artists. Find a great garage and stick w/ them!!

Nissan Canada - curious to know about my experiences?! Give me a call.

Asides from that - glad you love Mo. He/She is an awesome ride!

Thanks for the reply njjoe.... so in otherwords, she bad talked that Mo then not to hurt my feelings, she said nice things about my Murano when it probably drives just as bad (in her opinion). OUCH !

I can tell you from personal experience that most women don't know what they are talking about when it comes to cars. :D

I know enough, though, not to be screwed by a mechanic.

Hi Diane,
No, you are not the only gal. I do have a hubby, but the MO'z is mine, and we don't do any modifications to it.

It stays stock as of now.

I like to read here and look at all the pictures. I did buy a Garmin 660 after reading Lighteningrods reveiw on his GPS.

My next thing is to further investigate the Sirrus Radio. Next time I'm at the dealers I'm going to ask about it. I think by Bose radio is Sirrus ready.

I love driving my MO...it is one of the nicest --most comfortable vehicles I've owned.

We also have a great dealership that we dealt with here in the northbay area of San Francisco when we purchased the "Mean Machine" (Mo's name on the license plate frame)

Glad to see another gal here!

Not that you asked, but let me share a Sirius Radio opinion.... I have the receiver in mine which allows me to use the raido through the one that came with Mo and you can't tell it's there... it's great. Then I hooked up sirius to my wife's car, but had to hook up that little receiver box that you control the stations on and it sits on her dash. No pleasent to the eye... BUT, she gets great features with it that i'm so upset I don't get. She can pause the radio and then play it back later, she can set it to tell her when a song or group is playing and she has the option of switching diret channels to it then... that is agreat option. She can also change channels quicker then I can, meaning if I channel surf, it take 3 sec's before the next station plays and 5 sec's before the name of the song appears on the radio. she can channel surf without turning the station off she is listening too, and if she does, it takes 1 sec for the song and 1/2 sec for the song name to appear. UNFAIR... i don't use my sirius as much as she does.... i just use my preset stations. Something to highly consider when adding it to the Murano.
