As some of you know, I have been bounced around between the dealer and Nissan Corporate for a couple of weeks now. No one seemed to know how loud the OEM horns are.

Well as a last ditch effort, I wrote to them about how unhappy I was with their lack of service/caring about my serious question.

Nissan customer service actually called me the next day (last week) and promised she would find the answer for me. I had actually forgotten that she was even looking as she promised to get back to me by Tuesday or Wednesday; and here it is Friday.

Here is her e-mail to me:

Dear Dianne Hammond,

Thank you for contacting Nissan North America, Inc. and we apologize for the
delay in gathering the information requested.

I have contacted our internal technical support group, and have received a
reply regarding the decibel level for your specific vehicle. The decibel level specified for a dual horn is between 93 dB to 104 dB.

Thank you for being patient while we researched your request. If you have
anymore questions or comments, please email or call 1-800-647-7261.

Sincerely,

Melissa Harron

You might like to know that the difference between 93 and 104db is huge and would be preceived by a "Standarzied Ear" as over twice as loud at the minimum.

SS-

That was nice that they got back to you with the info. However, the range is too broad to be of any real use.

Gripperdon is right. Here is how various decibel (dB) ranges compare:

Perceptions of Increases in Decibel Level
Imperceptible Change 1dB
Barely Perceptible Change 3dB
Clearly Noticeable Change 5dB
About Twice as Loud 10dB
About Four Times as Loud 20dB
