Does the Murano come with a factory strut tower bar? The dash is so far over the engine compartment I'm having a hard time telling.
Reason I ask is there is an aftermarket one coming out that may fit if there is room for it... |

You think we can reach the strut towers? Or do you think there is to much stuff in the way? |

H-
I guess that all depends on how determined you are to install one. ;)
It's raining now, but tomorrow I'll take a look and see if it is feasible.

I looked and it does not look promising. There is a LOT of plastic above the IM and over the strut towers.
Just an FYI, here is the one I have coming for my Maxima and also fits on the Altima.

Really? I can't say that I've ever found myself saying "Gee my Murano really needs a strut tower bar"... |

Do you drive your Murano or push it? Sucker leans la ton around corners. I'd love to have a FSTB to keep the lean down on my daily drive to work... |

My drive to/from work tops out at about 45mph. If I wanted to be more aggressive about it I suppose I could weave in and out of traffic like a complete jerk.
My weekend / personal driving usually doesn't exceed 75-80mph on the freeway.
In neither case do I find myself trying to take 90-degree corners at 40mph.
It's a SUV, not a sports car. If I wanted to drive like that, I'd still be driving a sports car. The MO handles perfectly fine for me, because I drive it like an SUV, not a 350Z.
To each their own. If you feel the need for suspension upgrades, lowering kits, engine mods, etc., then that's awesome -- enjoy the heck out of it. Personally I'll save the money and spend it on something where I'd actually notice a difference under normal driving conditions.
Not trying to be a jerk, just saying, not "everyone" needs a strut bar.
As GripperDon says -- you pays your money and you makes your choice. (or something like that!) :) |

When I had my Maxima, it had every single type of suspension modification available - front and rear strut bars, stiffer stabilizer bars, adjustable suspension, etc..
The FSTB really made a noticeable difference in the feel during cornering - it wasn't less lean but rather a tighter, stiffer feel, because after all, you are literally tying down the front end to eliminate flex. That said, the location of the MO's strut towers leaves very little room for such a modification, which is too bad, since its one of those mods that actually work without giving anything up - even during normal driving it was noticeable. |

Any idea how to get all that plastic off and if it can stay off?
I have the FSTB coming for my Maxima anyway (preordered). If I could figure out how to get all the junk out of the way I'd try to get the FSTB to fit on my Murano. Its under $100 shipped mod if you want to take a gamble. |

This is something you'll need to figure out on your own, but there is a metal beam, painted black on my blue MO, that is part of the body that runs on top of and across the area where the STB would have to mount, so I'm not sure it would fit even with the plastic removed. |

Hilbe-
I finally got a chance to look under the hood.
It is my opinion that the MO would not benefit from a strut brace because the strut towers are located only inches forward of the firewall, which is a major structural member. A strut brace would be simply a cosmetic add-on.

Leans a lot? Not my MO. When pushed, the MO corners pretty level considering it is a five-and-a-half foot tall, two ton car.
An FSTB will not reduce roll as much as a stiffer roll bar will.
