Just got this notice from my former university to all staff and students:
quote: Transportation Services has announced that the Chrysler Corporation will be on campus next week conducting a paint survey. The survey team is researching the effects of local weather and other elements on auto paint. Officials say the team will be wearing bright orange safety vests and will perform the survey in a number of parking lots across campus. They will enter data in handheld computers but they will not touch the vehicles, merely look at the paint and “score” it for wear, fading, luster, etc. The researchers will then record the first two letters of the VIN so they know at which auto plant it was produced to determine the type/batch of paint that was used. The Chrysler Corporation will be conducting similar surveys at Rice, University of Houston and other colleges throughout the nation.
I'd like to see the results of that study. I wonder if many car companies run these kind of surveys. At a university, I'm thinking you might find a high number of uncared for cars, which might screw with results if they're looking for a relationship to local weather. |
