ordered my CT's - Click HERE for Original Thread

so after 70,000 KMs on my lovely MO, its time to change her shoes. Goodyear's have been AWESOME tires. just this past january we had the blizzard of the century

and i was on road for about 5.5 hrs at the speed no more than 20km/hr. and even days to follow, these tires had been the best. but after reading so much good reviews about Michelin's CTs so i ordered 4 tires from Costco @ 232/tire with 15$/tire rebate. it will have nitrogen filled in as costco does it standard.

but there is 1 concern. how fast does the tread wears out ? i read a lot of complains about the tire tread being weraing out much faster than OEM's.

one thing that CT's provided more than Eagle LS's was Ride Comfort and road noise.....

that was the deciding factor.

I will be interested in this answer.

Some guys should have a fair amount of mileage and be able to extrapolate from there.
I only have 11,000 miles on mine and for what it's worth, there is negligible tread wear.

I still really, really like them.

I understand the advantages of nitrogen in the tires -- consistent pressure and all, but I like being able to fire up my compressor in my garage and adjust a tire if it needs it periodically. Is it worth the hassle of having to get to a shop that can fill the nitrogen for you if a tire gets low?

You can still top them off with shop air.

I disagree on road noise. My daughter has CTs on her Highlander, and they are about the noisiest I have experienced. In fairness, they have quite a few miles on them....

Not to be contrary... but doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

Not that much, as air is ~70% nitrogen anyways.

There has been a lot of discussions on this forum concerning the benefits of filling automobile tires with 100% nitrogen. The actual benefits are more perceived than real.

Since air is 78% (by volume) nitrogen, by topping off a nitrogen-filled automobile tire with shop air you are still using mostly nitrogen.

ekaxel, might want to check your daughter's CTs for scalloping.
The body shop (Einsteins!) that worked on my MO did NOT have the 4-wheel alignment done (as they had billed for) and bled off some of the air from all four tires to soften the ride.

Before I knew it, I had scallops on all four tires. And can't find anyone who shaves tires any more. The tires were so loud, the road noise interfered with conversations in the MO.

I bit the bullet and had another set of CTs put on. And I keep them properly inflated, properly rotated, and in balance. Nice and quiet!

so finally got the new shoes on my MO.... looks rigid.... handling sure has improved and ride is quite comfy and less noisy...

one question, costco filled it up at 33PSI.... is that ok ? i had my GY's running at around 37-39...... so just wondering if its ok to have it that level....

the other thing (which might be independent of the tires) the MO seems heavy lately (even with GY's) i.e. feels like its getting dragged when accelerating.... but cruising at 50 or even 90 kph, nothing feels wrong, but accelerating is the period where the MO seems really heavy....

any ideas...;
