Locksmith will only be able to program it if they have a particular software to program the fob.If not then dealer is the only option to get the key fob.

I looked into this in the anticipation of losing a FOB one day. Dorman makes a nissan fob with DIY programmer that you plug into the OBD port.
$100 but without the physical key portion.

Getting keys from online store and cut and program it by locksmith is really a brilliant idea

It really is. I recently ordered the Genuine OEM Nissan replacement keys for my ride then had them cut by a local locksmith. I'm really happy with my purchase and it was really easy to order. Here's a link to the key https://www.nissanpartsprime.com/oem...nk-master.html

They slid out of my jacket pocket as I walked behind the third base dugout and landed in a grassy area so I didn't hear them fall. From now on they go into jeans pocket.

Any chance you (or anyone else) has tried this?

Just bought a '15 SL, and only received one fob.

FYI, when I bought my new Murano last month the dealer couldn’t locate the second fob. They had a mobile van come by (Car Keys Express) and they supplied the fob and programming in just a few minutes. I am sure they charge a lot less then you would pay going through the dealer.

Just not sure if they sell retail.

The dealer I bought my 2018 Murano from gives you 5 year insurance to cover lost key fobs. They will replace any and all lost during that time for free. Not that I plan on losing any.
