Bose System Replacment

Hi

I know everyone thinks the Bose system in the 2017 Murano sucks - and I agree !!!

Any suggestions on better systems/speakers ? My concern is ripping the Bose out would cause warranty and functional problems (Loss of steering wheel controls)

What are your recommendations for fixing this junky sound system ?

Do a search for threads from a user named Assad. He's done a lot of work with his head unit and sound system.

Not a dumb question. This forum software is not very user friendly for those type of searches. Here is a list of all of his threads he has started. I know he detailed replacing his head unit. That is the second thread in the list from the link below. I could have sworn he had a separate when he added an amp. He has done several mods and I believe he is an electrical engineer. So this stuff is right his alley. He may have detailed the amp and speaker replacement in the Android Head Unit replacement. Sorry man. I just cant remember which thread it's in.

Hi tse54,

I have the SV model (non bose), which is very different from the Bose.

The Bose system in the tech package is tightly integrated with the head unit, so it will not be an easy swap.

Another user replaced his Bose system, you might want to check with him

I was going to put something up on the forum about the upgrade I just completed on mine. Actually replacing the amp is not that bad on a bose system, however there is more to it sounding good than just swapping the amp / speakers. The amp can be completely removed from the system and a new one spliced into the connections coming from the radio. Just snip the whole thing. There are no signals going to the amp outside of the audio. All of the eq'ing done by Bose (poorly at best) is done by the amp. The signal from the head unit is clean. I ran a stereo signal into a JL Audio Fix (which after the fact really wasn't needed - the amount of eq'ing I saw was marginal , this included any eq changes that could have come from the volume increasing - there was no difference in the eq for sound levels). The signal then runs into a JL Audio TWK where all the magic happens. As for amps? They will get your a louder sound but not a cleaner sound - the eq'ing from the TWK is really amazing what can be brought out of it. I'm still working on getting the sound right but it's light years of an improvement.

If you were wondering the amp (stock bose) is under the rear passenger seat. Just fold the seats down and lift up the flap and its right there. It's the big one with the heat sinks on it.

Also if anyone else was planning something similar I can put up the configuration file which could be a good start. Mind you I also replaced the speakers.

If you have any questions about it let me know.

Thank you this info. Can you tell what speakers did you install?
Is it just a swap or required new connectors?

Focals. Connections are different however if you don't want to splice crutchfield has an adapter. If you are putting an amp in you should consider running new wire to it over stock. It's a very thin guage.

Did you run new speaker wires to both front and rear doors for your amp? Is it difficult? Thanks.

HI

I would love more technical information. I am bringing my car to an Audio person and he wanted to know what others have done.

I've noticed that the sound is full range when picking up a HD radio signal! no seriously, HUGE difference. not sure why

Hi - You know I noticed the same thing after reading your post. When listening to HD radio the sound really rocks... Good bass and everything - Switch to XM the sound dies...

Ihis sound, and the dashboards lights, is driving me nuts.

I am now looking at replacing my speakers with some Phoenix Gold speakers. Anyone know if these are any good ?
