Unhappy No Rain Sensing Wipers

My wife just purchase a 2018 Murano SL. It looked to have all the bells and whistles. My wife even asked our young salesman if the vehicle had rain sensing which he replied "yes" Come to find out after signing the deal he (the salesman) thought we were talking about intermittent wipers! My wife own a 2009 Murano that had the rain sensing wipers and can not believe this was one option that they took away. Checked with dealer for some type of "after market" fix but they said they have none. Any suggestions?

Mazda got rid of them, too. My wife had them and they worked perfectly. Even had a sensitivity dial to dial it in for varying conditions. I loved them.

I don't think there is a cheap and quick rain sensor fix for the Murano. My Mazda 3 had it and it was great, except when I forgot to deactivate them before turning car on when blades were frozen to the window. I was quite surprised that the Murano doesnt have them. I would have thought this is a staple in this price range considering Nissan was focusing on luxury with this model.

Lol I see both sides. Honestly, it doesn't bother me at all to use the stalk manually. However, for the price point, it should've been standard, or at least on the top trims. Honestly, I didn't know the 09-14 had it. Seems like the MOs of yore had better options than the new ones.

I mean, I get it. I had rain sensing wipers once in a former car. For the price point of a Platinum, I'd expect it to be thrown in. For my (relatively) cheap-o SV that I talked them down on, I couldn't care less. Using the stalk with intermittent speed-sensitive wipers was a nice surprise, but my expectations were low. lol

Lol hey man, the SVs are slept on. It's what the S used to be back in the day in the first gen...fairly-equipped to the point where although you don't have the fully loaded, you don't feel like you're missing out on much. Nissan is so crude for even selling the S model with manual seats.

Plus I prefer cloth seats over leather. The seat warmers are better equipped for cloth seats than leather, IMHO.

The no rain sensing wipers wasnt a deal breaker for me, hence the reason I still bought it but while on the topic of the heated seats.... what's up with the heated/ventilated seats we got? It doesnt even cover the entire seat but instead strips of it. I hate the feeling I get when I prewarm and sit down just to have parts cold and parts hot. Bad bad design.

Anyway back onto auto wipers. Yes.. they should have been included in this price point.

Nissan's rain sensing wipers were really bad. I had them on my 2012 Murano, and I was glad they dropped them. I have no problem adjusting my wipers to the conditions. I mainly had to operate the rain sensing ones manually, anyway.

I love the S model. My wife has a Platinum with every option while mine has none. For $25K brand new it cannot be beaten. I feel like a stole it.

That's the best thing about the S...the price. You can't beat it. Another good thing is the exterior. Minus the omission of foglights and the rear badging, it's literally the same premium look across the board.

Yeah I have stopped paying for upgrades to get fogs I donít need. Decided I was done with it when I bought this one a couple months ago. I have CarPlay, keyless entry and ignition, dual zone auto A/C. Thatís all I need.

As recently as 2015 when I bought my Mustang GT I was buying cars with every option. Wifeís Platinum soon after.

I went through a personal crisis and that crap just doesnít matter anymore. Priorities shifted 180 degrees. Iíll drive base models of good cars from now on. My wife can get whatever she wants. Probably will get her a Tesla next. Knowing her, the Ď16 Platinum will be around for a long time. She loves it and is loyal to her cars.
