ABS Recall

I scheduled an appointment yesterday with my local dealer as I received my recall notice on my 2016 Platinum as there might be a problem. Turns out they said my vehicle needs a new ABS unit and they had to order it and it would take a few days to get it in. I said I would pick my vehicle up later that day and bring it back in until the part arrived. They said no, we cant let you drive it as the potential for leaking brake fluid might hit the exhaust manifold and create a fire. No loaners available either so I'm without my MO until later next week!

I really dont think Nissan can legally hold your car back from you...

It's either Nissan releases your car and take the responsibility for the faulty ABS or give you a loaner.

I dont think they can hold your car hostage to protect their behind while you have to walk everywhere.

But then again, I'm no lawyer....

Personally, I wouldn't have left without a loaner car. For some odd reason, I noticed Nissan hates giving out loaner cars. Like, don't hold me hostage while you fix something that shouldn't have been an issue to begin with.

Yeah I've noticed that, too. Nissan sucks with loaners. I wouldn't have left it without a loaner.

Got my Mo back today! All seems fine although there were no problems that were evident when I brought it into the dealer. Took two days and I also had them change the oil. Nissan sent me a $40 gift card too, so my total cost to was zero$!

Is it Nissan or the dealership? I would think lack of loaners is a dealer by dealer type of thing.

They have loaners to give, but they absolutely hate giving them away. You have to almost beg them for the car. And that’s after you’ve been there for hours

I took my 2015 in for the second time for the same recall, and they promised me a loaner if there was an issue. Your dealer sucks if they don't give you one. BTW, mine was fine both times.

I think it's on a dealership by dealership basis. The two dealerships I've dealt with on numerous occasions have always offered me a loaner if the car will be in for an extended period of time. I've been given a brand new Qashqai and a couple new Rogues. I was happy with the loaners everytime because they weren't some beat up clunkers. All within under 1000km on the odometer. But then again I've been in for so many warranty repairs that they know me by now after I've lost my **** a few times. But hey
.. everyone of those claims were legit. So they respect that I guess...

When I received the recall notice, I called the dealer (Delray Nissan in FL) and asked them if they had all the parts to perform the repair, how long it takes and if I will get a loaner. They confirmed the parts in stock, it takes about 4 to 5 hours and no loaner but their shuttle service can take me anywhere I want and pick up after the car is ready. Took car at 9 AM and the car was ready by 2:00 PM.

Took our Mo to the dealer on 23rd for the recall, 3 hours later, adviser told me the part must be replaced but they donít have it in stock.

I couldnít get car back, they give us Sentra, I tried to explain we need SUV but it didnít go anywhere.

Promised to order, delivered and installed by Wednesday 28th.
No call from dealer on 28th, so I called and they told me the part was order till 26th so it arrived on 30Th.
Part was installed and we got car back.

When I came to pick up the car I walked around and noticed two wheels on one side damaged, talked to adviser and manager, now we have to bring car back for wheels repair. So its so annoying we have to go back.

Took mine in today, it checked out ok. Took about a hour or so.

They tried to sell me other MX items like brake fluid flush and fuel induction cleaning.
Seems overkill at 40,000 miles.

Trying to make a buck when they can, but not with me.

Took the MO in for the abs recall. really frustrating. I has the last recall done. then they said it had to be checked. So when I took it in they said they had to order it. They let me take the car back home cause they didn't know how long it would be and that it wasn't leaking. but if the ABS lite come on to park it. Then in less than a week they called again and they had got the actuator, Took them ruffly 4 hours to change it out. Seen the bill. over 1k .
