motion activated lift gate very finicky

Hi all,
Is there any way to make it more sensitive? sometimes it takes 4-5 tries with foot wave to get a reaction. We follow the procedure of key within 3 feet and and underbelly foot wave. but very sporadic results.

Our 18 is also very sporadic and takes the same amount of tries you talk about. We just push the button unless our hands are full. Then we get frustrated while attempting the foot action.

I think it is a technique that you are doing is wrong.

DO NOT move the foot side-to-side at all!

Approach a vehicle from the back with the FOB in the pocket. Position yourself so the leg that will be used would be in the middle of the bumper. With a foot going straight only, not on angle, not moving it side to side! Straight only. Then without hitting the undercarriage, retract the foot in a same manner, going straight back, not at an angle, not moving side to side. Make sure that the movement is even throughout and not jerky.

Most people do a mistake by moving the foot at an angle. Or raising a foot and then just waving around with it trying to find that sweet spot. This won't do. You must bring it forward at 90 degrees to the bumper, then retract in a similar even manner.

The door starts raising after I bring the leg back and plus 1-2 seconds. Thus, don't expect the door to open when you are standing on one leg.
