Rear Hatch Alarm 2018 Murano
I purchased a 2018 Murano Platinum a few months ago and for the most part I do like the car. There is however one major issue I have with it. I became aware last week that when you have the rear hatch open and start driving a very loud and annoying beeping goes off, warning that the hatch is open, as what happened when I was bring home a new 32” door for my garage. I soon realized that there is no way of shutting off the alarm, unless you close the hatch. So I had to drive home with a the alarm going off. I heard this is for safety reasons in regards to fumes getting in the car, which is the dumbest thing ever. I think it was an engineering screw up and they forgot to put in a switch to be able to turn it off. Many other new vehicles on the road today don’t have such an alarm and if they do your able to silence them. They just reset once the car is shut off.
On top of that, if you don’t have your seat belt on when driving the only warning you get is a small warning light on your dash, but NO ALARM!! No ding ding ding, nothing. Seriously!! Come on Nissan.
I read here on the site that if you close the locking mechanism on the hatch it would think the hatch is closed and you would get no alarm. Not so, I tried it.
Does any one know how to get around this issue?
