daytime running lights - another thread

new owner of an old '03. It appeared like this car has DRLs, but they only seem to come on with the parking lights. The manual says just Canadian models have DRLs. So what's the deal with those "low" headlamps? They seem pretty useless, if they are not on all the time. I've searched previous (confusing) threads, and they seem to point to the US model NOT having true DRLs, but I just wanted to make sure.

You are correct. US-models do not come equipped with daytime running lights. The previous owner obviously modded his (your) MO to incorporate a variant of that feature.
