Penzoil Platinum and Penzoil Ultra

Is anybody using either of these two syntetic oils in their murano as opposed to using mobil 1?
If so, what are your thought on these?
Thanks.

I'm not, but if it's synthetic and meets the manufacturer's requirements as stated in the manual, you can use it.

I'm using PP in the FX35, which has the same engine as the Murano. In CTS I just switched to PU. I like both of these oils.

I used to use PP in my tucson, now use PU in my tucson, great oil PP is what i would go with unless PU was not on sale.

PU is on par with Mobil 1 if not better lol, PP is on par with castrol syntec and similarly priced synthetics..

PP is equivalent to Mobil 1. PU supposed to be better, more like Mobil 1 EP. Anyway, if PP/PU is good fo Ferrari it must be good for Murano

Seriously, check BTOG, guys out there did a lot of testing and they like the new PP and PU. My FX35 is quite happy on PP.

Thanks guys. After doing a lot of research I found the PP to be the best oil for the price. Basically the concensus was that is better than Mobil 1 (especially after Mobil 1 was reformulated), but thre is nothing really wrong with Mobil 1, PP was just better (after sending samples in for professional chemical analysis).
I bought 5q of PU for 26.50 at my local Walmart yesterday, i just wanted to make sure somebody tried it in their Murano...or I guess their FX35
I also got 4 purolator pureone filters for $2 per filter at amazon (after rebate)

Oh, and for those who are interested in PP or PU, Pennzoil does not advertise these for extended OIC, even though they are capable of it. So PU is not officially being positioned against Mobil 1 EP.

you are lucky. WM's over here do not carry PU. I have to buy it in 1qt bottles at AutoZone....much more expensive. But I like this oil so do it anyway...

That sucks. Advance auto parts has the platinum on sale with the purolator pureone for like $28, which is not a bad deal if your walmart doesn't sell PP. But yeah, it's not the PU.

I realize this is an older thread. Anyone else using Penzoil Platinum? Local Walmart has the 5 QT jug for $18. Curious how it's holding up along with any filter recommendations. Thanks!

I've always used PP and loved it. I'm not sold on this latest stuff made from natural gas though. I was not impressed with how it looked after the first change (very thin, almost water like) and even more concerned with how much particulate was in the bottom of the 5 quart jug that I only used about 4.5 quarts from after it sat for several months.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing @JayS . I picked-up a 5 quart jug today. So the price I saw on the shelf was well under the regular retail price. They agreed to sell me one at $17 but no more. I'll see how it goes and report back.

engine sound when switching over to penzz pure plus engine idled

smoother and quieter than compared to using the older platinum oil all in all iam very pleased with using the new penzzoil pure plus if you want a clean running engine use the new pure plus its excellent oil to use.

I went back to Mobil 1 at my last change. The level of particulate that settled out in the 5 quart jug that I used 4.5 quarts of really bothered me. I've been leaving that much in the 5 quart jug when using the non-natural gas based PP and have never seen particulate in the bottom when I went to use up the last 1/2 quart at the next oil change. Decided I feel better letting other people be the guinea pigs on this new natural gas base stock oil for now.
