2003 MURANO Passenger side drive axle

Hello, I am in the process of changing the passenger side drive axle, when i removed the axle the transmission fluid started pouring out all over the ground! Is this normal? I have changed drive axles on other vehicles before and this never happened? Just wanted any info or help i can get, thanks kj

Hello. That's totally normal. Make sure you use a catchpan next time. Replace the seal as well.

I believe it's normal on the passengers side...more than the driver's side. Usually, if you lift the driver's side up only, you should have little to no leak from the trans. The passenger side seems to run a lot more when it's removed.

I am guessing you did this on a FWD? The AWD does not require to remove the inner shaft out to replace the passenger side axle....it splits in the middle.
