Are you using the factory halogen or factory HID bulbs? As far as the oxidation, I would purchase a simple $10 kit from Turtle Wax to restore the headlights. They are sold at places like Walmart. Unless the oxidation is fixed and the headlights are somewhat restored, buying brighter bulbs won't do much for you. On the other hand, you might need something stronger to clean up the lenses if they are completely horrible at the moment. Most Muranos that I see in the road are. I clean mine up regularly and they seem to hold up in great shape.

Additionally, I do headlight retrofitting, so I keep my lenses it tip-top shape, have clear projector lenses and use either the Osram CBI or Morimoto 5500k HID bulbs. Therefore, my lights look better than most of the factory HID cars out there...overall brighter and have a nice color to them. Also, I have 240k miles on my car.

Don't forget the first advice: CLEAN UP the surface of the headlights. When you have a surface like that, the light is diffused by the nasty surface and nothing you can do will make it focus on the road. That's step one, before you worry about lamps.

35W with all original factory wiring/ballasts. Currently using the Morimoto 5500k bulbs and the STI-R clear lenses on my factory projectors, nothing else. It's a 2004 with 240k miles on it, so the system performs very well if you have everything cleaned up nicely.

^^^ Exactly. Mine look super clean/clear but even I see a difference in brightness after I wash the car and use the headlight rubbing compound.

@ OP - Every little bit makes a big difference believe it or not.
