  1. CVT needing rebuild at 39,000 miles due to juddering

    Problems
This isn't helpful to individuals who have a transmission fail, but ALL car makes have transmission failures. Subaru, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, BMW, Mercedes, name it. Some are more prone to others. I haven't seen any evidence that Nissans have higher failure rates than other makes. It's good news...
  2. Class action suit needed...

    CrossCabriolet
If you folks are sincere about the class action suit, then perhaps you should get in touch with each other, then contact the appropriate federal agencies and see if you can get an action going. Alternatively, you might advertise for a trial attorney who will recruit members to the class and...
  3. Transmission issues

    1st Gen (2003-2007)
It will be interesting to get trouble codes. Sometimes tranny problems are due to a valve body problem which can be corrected with a new part. Sometimes it's rebuild time. The party line on these has long been that the dealer doesn't rebuild, they drop the old one and install a remanufactured...
  4. CVT needing rebuild at 39,000 miles due to juddering

    Problems
I don't think the Nissan CVT has ever been considered a "major problem." I know we have had reports of failures here, but remember this is a place where people come with problems, not because they're universally happy with their car. Nissan sells a lot of CVT vehicles, and I suspect the...
  5. Water / oil leak 2015 nissan murano

    3rd Gen (2015+)
If the AC is on and you live in a humid area, they all do.
  6. CVT needing rebuild at 39,000 miles due to juddering

    Problems
As long as it's covered under warranty, you're fine. Thanks for letting us know about it.
  7. Climate Control not cooling cabin

    3rd Gen (2015+)
The OBD system in your car may have info. Have a shop connect to it and see if any error codes are present. In many cases AutoZone will read codes at no charge.
  8. 2005- loss of power and will not restart

    1st Gen (2003-2007)
Thanks, @I need coffee. Great suggestion!
  9. Steering Failure

    Problems
My take on this is to consider the (1) electrical and (2) hydraulic components of the steering support. Which could come and go most easily? My vote is electrical. Hydraulic pumps take a moment to build up pressure when you start the car, but they also need a couple of seconds to lose pressure...
  10. Water / oil leak 2015 nissan murano

    3rd Gen (2015+)
If it's antifreeze, then you have a coolant leak. What I would do first is check coolant level after it has cooled down and make sure it's up to the correct level. That buys you time. Second step would be to start looking for the leak, which may sometimes be found because the antifreeze may...
  11. Steering Failure

    Problems
Isn't your steering electric in that vehicle? (Someone help me out here, I don't have a current model.) Sounds to me like: 1) This is an immediate safety problem and should be dealt with seriously. 2) It may be a pending failure of the power assist unit for the steering, which as I noted, may...
  12. Hatch Problem

    Problems
Check Courtesy Nissan parts online and you should be able to find a diagram that has the part number.
  13. Mud Flap Fasteners

    3rd Gen (2015+)
Those push pins get a bit hard to work with after they get dirty. Having spares isn't a bad idea. I get a kick out of this approach, because my 1970 240Z had push pins to mount the interior panels. Seems like Nissan has been using that approach for a long time.
  14. Help me please

    1st Gen (2003-2007)
Any time you get CVT codes it's a matter for concern. You might try a preemptive change of lubricant in the CVT. The only lubricant approved by Nissan is sold by dealers and it's not cheap, but worth a shot at avoiding a CVT problem. You can look up the basic meanings of all these codes...
  15. A/C Slow to Cool

    3rd Gen (2015+)
This is one reason that charging AC systems isn't a job for Bubba Joe in the back yard with a gauge and can of refrigerant bought at AutoZone. Overcharging can be a problem just like under-charging. A lubricant is also required in the AC system.
  16. Water / oil leak 2015 nissan murano

    3rd Gen (2015+)
Look above the liquid...that's your first clue. First thing I do is dip my finger in it, sniff and taste. If it's oil, you will know. If it has antifreeze in it, you will smell it and the water will be slippery. If it's condensate from the AC, it will be plain water.
  17. O2 Sensor 2007 Murano price quote for replacement

    1st Gen (2003-2007)
O2 sensors are indeed simple things. I have replaced 2 or 3, and always with the least expensive generic unit I can find. All have worked perfectly. Here's a tech reference with more than you need to know: http://www.autotap.com/techlibrary/understanding_oxygen_sensors.asp Critical...
  18. Clunking noise from the rear - '11 SV AWD

    Problems
Check shocks, especially mounts, and also look at any universal joints in the drivetrain and check for slack. Bushings are more likely.
  19. high pitch screech on accel not very loud

    3rd Gen (2015+)
One of the most frequent causes of a trilling/screeching sound is vacuum or intake air leaks. As the engine runs it can pull air through small cracks which can whistle or make similar sounds. This is common across cars for many decades. I had this problem on a 1951 Pontiac Straight-8; sounded...
  20. Nissan Murano rear seat heaters.

    Problems
It's not hard to peel the seat coverings off to inspect the interior of the seat, but it does take a while. The dealership ought to do that.
