So I'm installing two amps and I want to make sure I run the right gauge wire.

One amp has two 25 amp fuses and one amp has one 20 amp fuse.

I THINK that I can run 4 guage (80 rated, right?) from the battery and split it to two 8 guage wires w/ a disty block to get the two amps..

and would an 75 amp fuse at the battery be the right choice?

does this sound right?

Well, if you never want to blow the fuse a 75 is the perfect choice :)

I wouldn't go any higher than the lowest rated internal fuse (which in this case is a 20).

What are the amp specs? Don't worry about the size of the fuse to judge your wiring needs.

umm. I thought part of the idea of a fuse was to blow before the wiring overloaded and burned. so a fuse smaller than the AWG load would make sense, right?

I think 8 gauge would be ok if you aren't stressing the system to it's max for long periods. If you are, go with 4 gauge.

I used 4 gauge in my system, but my sub amp has three 25 amp fuses and sometimes I push it hard.
