Does anyone know how to get those polite little beeps back when you lock your Murano? I have 2005 SL and somehow I managed to disable the beep when I lock and unlock the doors. I can get the horn indicator to work easily enough, but getting that helpful beep back is proving to be elusive.

Thanks in advance!

The instructions, I believe, are in your owners manual.

I suggest you read your manual more carefully next time. Here you go.

I don't have a 2005 Murano Owner's Manual handy, but I found the following in the 2004 Murano Owner's Manual. Hopefully, the procedure's the same.

HOW TO USE REMOTE KEYLESS
ENTRY SYSTEM

Setting hazard indicator and horn
mode

The factory setting of the remote keyless entry
system is in hazard indicator and horn mode.
In hazard indicator and horn mode, when the
LOCK button is pushed, the hazard indicator
flashes twice and the horn chirps once. When
the UNLOCK button is pushed, the hazard indicator
flashes once.

If hazard indicator and horn mode is not necessary,
you can switch to hazard indicator only
mode by following the switching procedure.
In hazard indicator only mode, when the LOCK
button is pushed, the hazard indicator flashes
twice. When the UNLOCK button is pushed,
neither the hazard indicator nor the horn operates.

(Switching procedure)

Push the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the
keyfob simultaneously for more than 2 seconds
to switch from one mode to the other.
When pushing the buttons to set hazard indicator
only mode, the hazard indicator flashes 3
times.

When pushing the buttons to set hazard indicator
and horn mode, the hazard indicator flashes
once and the horn chirps once.

I don't think you have answered his question.
He said he knew about the horn.
He asked about "polite little beeps".
Maybe it's not something that we, with old Muranos, even have.

Hmmm possibly. However, if its the same "beep beep" sound that Toyotas make, then its probably some sort of aftermarket system, not the stocker system. But then I suppose I've never heard an 05 model lock, so maybe Nissan changed the beeps?

Unless of course the "horn indicator" referred to above is the panic mode horn.

On my '05 the horn indicator for lock/unlock was one of the first things I disabled, but I don't remember a beeping other than the horn for this.

I disabled the horn asap, but I still got these little beeps when I locked or unlocked the car. might be paricular to the options package that came with it?

I'll try the hazard thing.

On my '05 MO, with Intelligent Key (we ARE talking Intelligent Key- equipped, right?) when you disable the horn sound, as quoted in the manual, you automatically get the quiet electronic beeps that the OP is asking about. The only choices are horn or beeps. If you're not hearing one or the other, something is wrong.

I have the option of the horn on/off when I remotely lock the doors. I have found no way for soft beep option. I don't have the intelligent key feature. In the settings menu there is an option for beep on/off but I haven't been able to figure out what this option does. I hear no beeps when using the menus or locking the doors.

The "beeps" can be found in the personal settings portion of the display.

If you scroll throught the display to Personal Settings, you will come to section that list "horn, beeper, hazard:. If you choose beeper, you will get the beeps instead of horn or the hazard lights when you use the Intelligent Key receivers on the driver's door and hatch.

Took some doing to find this one.

The thread that Dennis pointed out was pretty clear that the beeps are an option ONLY for the intelligent key.

So that's why I don't get the beep option. Bummer, that would be nice. I hate the horn chirp, but a beep would be useful.

Good find.

One of the things we "older owners" have to watch out for in our attempts to help, is that we no longer have current cars.
In a week or two our cars will be 4 years old from a MY perspective.
So, on the one hand we have a lot more experience with the Murano than some, but OTOH we have this experience on a car that is quickly becoming irrelevant.
Time marches on.

Glad that you were able to find it on your own, Mike.

I have an 04 SE with the in dash
display&joystick.
If you have that feature, you can go into the menu and there is an area where you can turn alarms on & off, headlight sensitivity, Etc.
