I havn't tried changing my oil/filter yet, I'll have the dealership do the first one.

But I was wondering, due to the placement and size of the oil filter, what's the best type of wrench to use?

My strap wrench was too big to work on that tiny thing. It was on awfully tight, I ended up using large channel-lock pliers -- worked pretty good. There's always the good old boy last resort -- drive a screwdriver through the side for a great lever.

I got one at Wal-Mart. It was the smallest one they had, and luckily it fit. It's one of those plastic ones that you attach a standard ratchet too. I wouldn't advise the screwdriver through the oil filter bit. I had a neighbor that did this, and all he accomplished was ripping the filter apart. In the end, he still couldn't get it loose. He finally had to call a wrecker service to get towed to the dealership. Hope this helps!
