body sway

Best description I could come up with. What would be the replacement or upgrade parts to consider for this situation:
Hitting or rolling across a dip or heave in the road surface we'll get a nice side to side sway in the MO. Just briefly then it will
come back. I think I notice it more now than when newer. Still OE shocks/struts. Newer Bridgestones. I think the shocks are still doing
the job, not alot of bouncing. It is a gentle driven ride under foot and conditions.

I'm wondering if you maybe have a bad bushing in the rear suspension which is allowing extra body movement. Are you getting any clunks or other noises?
I would guess sway bar link/bushing or control arm. If there is a clunk or scrape associated with any of the body movement as Pilgrim suggested, I would almost guarantee it. I have 73k and still on original shocks/struts and they are just fine. I have replaced a front end link though, so those can fail "early" with little warning. A good independent mechanic can tell real fast. A dealer might replace all the shocks and then scratch their head when the sway hasn't gone away ;-)
No obvious clunks or scapes but maybe I will aim the car toward a dip and listen carefully. Still a very quiet ride overall. Yes good indy shop might be good first step.
I am having this very same issue with my MO. Hit a bump/hole and the vehicle sways to one side. Wondering if OP ever solved the problem.
I'm getting the same side to side movement, at least that's what it feels like. I believe that to be directly linked to bushings.

I replaced sway bar links all around hasn't changed the side to side movement over dips and bumps.

Keep in mind I have over 300K's on my MO. Prob due for new control arms..

Cheers,

OK, please tell us in detail what you have done so far to investigate the problem,.
My 2013 has the same swaying problem. When I drive over rough surface at highway speeds it can at times feel almost out of control. Something seriously wrong but doesn’t make any clunking noise or sound of any type. Just my wife screaming because she feels scared. It does something similar on ice. The car wanders. I don’t mean because it’s slipping because it’s on a level highway no braking or acceleration, but the car has it own direction it wants to go.

Not enough information....
How many miles on it?
What are your tire pressures?
Have you replaced the shocks?
Has a mechanic looked at the suspension, front and rear?

It’s in great shape with 120000 miles
35 lbs tire pressure equal all around, I’ve already tried lower pressure.
Brand new tires Goodyear
The alignment was just checked it’s good.
I replaced the rear shocks
And the suspension was check over by a mechanic when I took it for tires. He checked twice as I asked him and he found nothing that needed replacing.
Just an idea... Check the tie rod play. Jack a front wheel off the ground. Grab the wheel at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions and carefully rock it slowly back and forth. Even a slight bit of play can cause it to be squirrely. My '03 had a tiny bit of tie rod play that would cause it to feel odd when coming to a stop on some road surfaces. A lot of play would obviously be much more noticeable. However, I would expect your mechanic has already performed this check...

Yeah the mechanic checked that already but I can definitely try it myself. I have read a lot of forums and many guys have experienced exactly same problems but no one has posted a solution.

Control arm bushings are worn. Everything else can be rock solid, but if the bushings are worn, then you'll get uncontrolled wandering and the steering wheel pulling as you brake and accelerate.

With your miles, this is a common problem. Both control arms are about $150 on Amazon.

There are a few posts here having the same issue that was resolved by replacing the control arms.

Good luck.

Have a good day.

Hey that’s interesting to hear. Are you referring to rear control arms?

Front if you're feeling it in the steering wheel as described. You'll also get new lower ball joints with the control arms.

I have found that the replacements are usually built a little more solidly than the original on the car.

I have never felt the steering wheel pulling during braking or acceleration but definitely the car wanders over uneven pavement at highway speeds like it’s got its own mind. I will check the front control arms carefully and let you know if that could be the issue. The parts you suggested appear not to fit my car but I found some that do.
Thanks for your help PaulDay.

I've experienced a similar thing with my 2021 AWD from time to time. Seems like the steering wheel suddenly loses its grip on things for a split second, which causes the sensation that I'm riding on a bridge's metal grate where the tires are tracking funny for a split second. It's happened with both the stock Bridgestones and the replacement Firestones. Doesn't happen a lot, and it doesn't really feel dangerous. However, several times it seemed more wobbly/loose than normal for that split second that it almost seemed like a gust of wind nudged the car over. Or that a tie-rod was loose. At that point, I typically looked at the trees to see if there's a strong wind happening. Once, yes...the other few times...dead calm.

But I've regularly (and very recently) checked the suspension and other parts and everything's tight. I have the annual State inspection coming up, so maybe when it's on the rack I'll be able to find a problem.
I would doublecheck your tie rods. My '03 had a similar sensation when coming to a stop on a certain piece of road with some irregularities. It was my outer tie rod. It only had a tiny hint of play, but it was enough. Use your fingertips at the 9 and 3 positions and feel for a very tiny rocking movement. The same thing happened to the other side a few years later, but that time it was caught during a state inspection.
