Hi all,

Yesterday, I drove my Nissan Murano '03 to a mechanic place with the SES light on - with error code P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 1. The day before, my MO just shut off in the middle of the highway (my speed was near 50 MPH)!!! and I was with my baby inside!....thank GOD nothing happened. After 2 or 3 tries to start it up I made it to press the accelerator and drive back home (4 more miles) without any problem. Finally, I got home and researched about this issue...read, read and read. Researching I learn how to replace that sensor, so EASY, but I didn't wanted to get my hands dirty.

The Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 1 was replaced for $25, the sensor cost $106. The SES light is OFF now and after the replacement I drove to my office (around 7 miles far) everything seems to be ok...no light and no hesitation from my MO.

My questions are:
1. Does the mechanic need to do something so the MO computer can re-learn about the new Camshaft sensor that was replaced?

2. Is there any further procedure to execute after this kind of replacement??

The next work I need to do to my MO is to replace an Air Intake Duct (is because a recall campaign that I haven't done) because I didn't know about but yesterday Nissan told be about it.

To answer your questions:

1) The camshaft position sensor is plug-and-play. No calibration is required.

2) No further action is required on your part.

The price you paid to have the problem diagnosed and corrected was more than fair. It sounds like you found yourself a competent and trustworthy mechanic.

Thanks for your answers! A trustworthy mechanic is what I WAS looking (too) since I didn't have it and was scared to go to the dealer for a rip off... I bet I found my man (mechanic)!

I'm a woman and you know how things are related to vehicles and MONEY.
