Hi friends, what Is the effect of absence of catalytic converter in a Nissan Murano 2005 model ?
Higher emissions (obviously). If it's one or both of the cats connected to the bank 1 and 2 exhaust manifolds then the MIL will illuminate because the downstream O2 sensor signal sent to the ECM will be the same as the upstream sensor so code P0420 and/or P0430 will be stored. I'm not sure if the downstream sensors in the 1st generation are involved in fuel trimming, but if they are then that could cause fuel trim issues as well.

If you're talking about the 3rd cat farther down on the exhaust front tube then you probably won't notice it's gone.

^^I echo what I need Coffee said. Ironically, if you ever have a problem with the cats, it will probably be the ones closest to the engine, not the 3rd one farther back.
