So, I have been driving for about 2 weeks (my MO, not in general) and I have been sticking change in my pants pockets because I don't know where to put it in my car. Am I actually supposed to put it in that nice felt lined storage area below the "phone holder"?

Won't the felt get permanently filthy after having coins moving in, out, and about it?

Ruin it forever?

Is that portion of the center console easily replaceable?

Thanks!

I keep mine coins next to the phone holder (yes, there is another "pocket", much shellower). I never thought it could get filthy........I guess it depends on the coins..:D

The felt part can be pulled right out, and therefore replaced if needed.

By the way, I just discovered that the coin tray is lighted (comes on when the lights are on much like the glove compartment light) so you can see the coins in the dark! :claphead:

It will eventually get dirty if you put coins in it. Ever go to a casino? They usually have towelettes available so you can get all the dirt from the coins off your hands.

The part may come out easily, but as far as I can tell from my parts list, you can't just purchase the insert. You have to replace both compartments at a cost of approximately $170. Better off just buying a separate coin holder and keeping it in your console or glove compartment.

The "coin holder" is actually way too shallow for the number of coins I keep (I guess I just park at meters too often), so I use the deeper tray for coins, and the shallow one for my cell phone.

Ok, just to be clear, when we refer to the "coin holder", we are referring to the longer felt line compartment that is on the driver's side of the shifter and between the "phone holder" and deep center console container (under armrest). It has a spring loaded cover. Yes?

I just can't get over how dirty the coins will make that nice, light colored felt lining. Coins are dirty by nature.

I'll have to find me a little change purse! Although, I find that arm rest storage area ridiculously deep - it need ANOTHER level in it. I'll be tossing my change purse in that cavernous hole.

But I love my MO.

PAULQ ! Did you not get a removable inner box like section that fits within the arm rest cavern. I did, it has a cut out for the electrical outlet and two slot like handles at each end to lift it out with. It is shallower that the main storage box and provided me a nice space to put items that you would like hidden, particularly considering the Lock, or room for electrical Parafanelia. Even this inserted box is quite deep and so I went to "Get Organized" and found some perfect fitting black stacking plastic trays to store all those things I like to have in the MO. I must personally say I love this big storage volume. I realize it's there to house the factory "Enterainment System" you can buy which I did Not. GRIP :D

LOL GRIP... Oh jeez, I did get the inner box but I was still overwhelmed by the depth of the space. I mean it's space... which is good... but it's not good space.

I had wondered about putting organizers into the top level of the box but I thought I was being silly. Now that you say you've done it, I think I will go look for some organizing boxes or something to stick in there. It's huge! Thanks!

I'm still working on the change issue.

I thought I'd finish this off by saying I decided to just use the longer compartment (below the cell phone holder) for change despite the felt. I was getting to frustrated having no change.

It sure is convenient.

Oh great. Those were the kind of images that haunted me at night. I can't even tell what that non-coin object is on the left.

Ha!
I knew Dr Pepper was lying.
Proof Positive that Dr Pepper is made from prunes.

I knew it when I had my first one in a break area of Lackland AFB in Sept 1956.
