So my little Murano is quickly coming up on her warrenty birthday and I'm looking into an extended warrenty. I like the idea of getting a gold perferred nissan warrenty, but I wanted to get a handle on the costs and if I'm going to be forced to haggle with a dealership for one. If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be awesome!

Recently went to the local dealer for a warranty quote and all they offered was a third party contract. I am surprised they are permitted to do this because of a conflict of interest and potential problems of the third party in the future. They told me they were having too much trouble with their own company and thusly no longer offer the Nissan product.

Of course, purchasing third party from the dealer may not be the way to go so I am looking at warrantydirect and comparing.

Ok, so I went to a local Nissan dealership (brand new, not the one I actually bought my Murano from), and they gave me two numbers:

Security+Plus Gold Preferred

60/100 $0 deduct $1550.00
72/100 $0 deduct $1850.00

Both of these included a $75 surcharge (for what, he wasn't clear, but it was there).

Does this look right? He said this was non negotiable, which I'm raising an eyebrow on.

It seems high to me.

Too High.
You can buy a genuine Nissan warranty online
from Roberson motors.

Give them a try.

www.NissanExtendedWarranty.com

They are authorized by Nissan to sell warranties.

Homer, thanks for the website.
Do you mind to share any testimonial/opinions on buying the extended warranty from the link you provided?
(i.e are they legit?).

I apologize for being blunt here. Just want to make sure that the business is who they say they are...;)

I just sent them this letter, I will update the forum when I hear from them.

Hi there,

I got your reference from a fellow NissanMurano.org forum member.

I am planning to purchase Nissan Extended Warranty SecurityPlus plan for my 2003 Nissan Murano SL. Currently, it has 33K on the odo and I am planning to purchase the extended warranty before the 3yrs/36K bumper to bumper to warranty expires. I am the original owner. I have *all* service records of the vehicle since the 1st service and for all recalls performed.

I got a few questions before purchase. Please kindly provide answers
1. I understand that you are authorized by Nissan to sell Security Plus warranty plans. Am I correct?

2.
So this plan is not only going to be unique to your dealership? I will be able to 'claim' the warranty at *any* Nissan Dealer. Am I correct?

3. I am eyeing for the Silver Plan or the Gold plan 60 mo/100K or 72 mo/100K. Care to give me quotes?

Thanks, kindly revert.

A simple search indicates that they are a Nissan dealer in Jessup Ga.

Other than that, all I know is what I read on their web site.

I am in the same boat -- getting very close to 36000 miles. If I fill out the quote form, will my car be considered new as I was the original owner of my 2003 Murano. Or do I get a quote as pre-owned as it is not new now?

I think your car is still considered new (for the purpose of this) as it has not yet changed hands.

It would appear that extendedwarranty.com is BS.

There price seems to be a HIGHER than the quote from
Zanter's Nissan dealer.
So much for the 40% savings.

I paid about $1200 for Gold Preferred 84mos/75K.
But that was in 2003.

Good to know.

I paid $1,500 (if I recall it right) for Gold Prefered in 2003. 60m/100k miles. I guess I bought a piece of mind. The main reason was the CVT. Otherwise I would not do it....I purchased the warranty from the dealer.

If the main concern is the CVT wouldn't the original warrenty cover it up to 5 years? So it seems that the 60m warrenty would not be necessary if your main concern is the CVT.

Yes, all of your Nissan Murano's have a 5 year / 60,000 mile warranty from the original in service date. This covers major components such as the Engine, Transmission ( major components of the CVT system), and Safety features of the Murano.

HERE is an excerpt from the 2005 Warranty Brochure.... Consult your specific warranty booklet for exact details on what is covered.

POWERTRAIN COVERAGE
• The Powertrain coverage period is 60 months or 60,000
miles, whichever comes first.
• This warranty covers any repairs needed to correct
defects in materials or workmanship.
• Powertrain coverage applies to components listed below,
supplied by Nissan except for those items listed
under the caption “WHAT IS NOT COVERED”.

ENGINE
Cylinder heads and block and all internal parts, rocker
covers and oil pan, valve train and front cover, timing chain
and tensioner, oil pump, water pump and fuel pump, fuel
injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds and supercharger,
flywheel, seals, and gaskets.

TRANSMISSION AND TRANSAXLE
Case and all internal parts, torque converter and converter
housing, automatic transmission control module, transfer
case and all internal parts, seals and gaskets, clutch cover
and housing, and electronic transmission controls.

DRIVETRAIN

propeller shafts, universal joints, bearings, seals and gaskets

So Nissan Warrenty, I guess you are with the Georgia dealer Homer pointed us to. Can you offer anything in the ballpark of the deal Zanther got but for the 72 month warrenty. Feel free to pm me if you can.
