Jaak, yes you are right.

Why do you think nissan decide to do the S trim for the murano?
IMHO, the base SL (FWD or AWD) are reasonably priced at below $28K . I am not talking about the MSRP here, but more about the market price at which most new murano are sold for. That price is well below murano competitor's such as: the boring toyota hilander and honda pilot

So with the s trim, nissan expect to attack the small suv market? Like the toyota rav4 or the crv $24K+?
Isn't nissan Actic is supposedly in this market ? (mini murano).

Or nissan is trying to compete with other cheaper mid size suvs in the class of: KIA SORENTO or hyundai santa fe?

Or, nissan is planning to move the SL trim above $30K, and price the S model just more or less at the current base SL? This move might mean that nissan is expecting a higher profit margin on murano?

Opinions?

If I'm reading it correctly, these are the items that are standard on the base model SL that are not going to be on the new "S" model:

Headlight auto on/off feature
Fog lights
10-way power adjustable lumbar
Seatback pockets
Minus two speakers
Steering wheel audio controls
HomeLink
Vehicle Security System
