Hey Guys:

Decided to hard wire my Passport 8500 on my new MO.

Since I live in one of the two states that does not allow radar, I didn't want any cigarette lighter cables dangling around. I did the same hardwire install on my Vette.

I was able to find an ignition switched 12v supply on the front A-pillar drivers side. This way the radar powers on and off with my ignition and I don't worry about battery drain.

After you pull off the plastic panel, you will see a wiring plug. I tapped into the ORANGE wire on the plug. (Follow the link below to see pics of install)

Took all of 15 minutes to do this.

Nice,

Where/how do you ground the detector?

You might want to open up a gallery and post the rest of your pictures there?

I've got a V1 that I want to hardwire and just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I thought I was going to go up in the overhead light panel/sunroof control area but yours looks pretty good.

Thanks for the gallery tip. I've uploaded the pics there see the link below:

I used a Ground screw that was very conveniently located there next to the plug.

Just crimped a ring crimp on my ground lead of the wiring harness and bolted it there. Works like a charm.

I also thought originally of going to the sunroof control panel at first and then thought of running down the pillar to the fuse box, but I pulled the pillar cover and voila! found what I needed! :D
