Lag 1-2 seconds after stepping on gas pedal?

My 2004 Murano does something strange…

When I step on the gas, it does nothing for 1-2 seconds before the car starts moving. This behavior exists even when in neutral or park. If you step on it in neutral or park, it does nothing for 1-2 seconds before the revs go up.

It doesn’t ALWAYS do this. When you first start the car, it’s fine. It will start doing this after 20-30 minutes of driving. The problem starts faster if it’s hotter out. If it’s REALLY hot, it could start doing the lag in 5 minutes. It always goes back to normal after turning the car off and back on.

Does anybody know what’s going on?

How many miles?

Check the engine air intake duct for cracks causing a vacuum leak. It's a very common problem.
You need a scan tool that shows real time information, and to see if when pressing on the accelerator pedal, that it see's the delay. It could be the pedal resistor, it could be the throttle body, it could be the driver circuit in the ECU, it could be a bad connection in a connector, it could be some kind of ground issue. Maybe there are other could be's that I have missed.
This is currently happening to my 2004 nissan murano. It only happens in hot weather, and always goes away when I turn my car off. Someone said, run it on 93 octane, so I have been, but it is still happening. Did you ever get this problem fixed? What was the issue?

First signs of CVT failure. Have the CVT codes read.

Good luck.

Have a good day.
