While Zainoing and installing the bumber guard on my new SL, I detected some "slack" in the the rear bumper cover. The whole outer piece moves in and out about 3/4 of an inch. Is that normal?? Thanks!

Probably is a loose or damaged clip(s)...
There are only a few of them holding the cover to the bumper.

Jaalbr,

I noticed that too... I've seen it on other MOs. I just had some body work done and they had to replace the rear bumper cover. Same issue after they finished and I talked to the body shop worker. Just as Sim stated there are very few fastners. I thought maybe not so bad, so if you get into an accident the cover doesn't take anything else with it????

However now that I see others say its secure I wonder. I noticed it is a bit loose near where the top of the bumper cover meets the rear quarter panel.

I wonder.....
