I just bought a 2012 Murano SL. I noticed that it has a loud humming noise that varies with the speed. It is not tire/road noise as it does not change with road condition such as road type or weather conditions. It does not seem to be the engine. The previous owner said that it started when he put the new tires on. Could it be the CVT or the TC? Any suggestions?

It may be a wheel bearing hub, a relatively common problem. Check if the noise is louder/softer when making a hard left or right turn and let us know the results.

How may miles are on your odometer?

No noticible change in noise when making sharp tirns.
The previous owner said it was the tires, but it sounds like you don't believe him/her. Nevertheless, did you rotate the front and rear tires to see if the noise changes and at least rule them out? Where do you think you hear the noise coming from--from the floor by your feet? Behind you?

If you have an AWD drive Murano, check the fluid level in your transfer case and rear differential, especially since you're at 90k miles when you don't know the service history...
