Somehow I have stashed too many lubricants recently. I guess I went on a shopping frenzy. Anyway, just wondered what is the shelf life, as I do not want to put anything to the car that could adversely affect its performance and reliability. Some quick research on the net and here what come up. You may find it handy.

Please note that all recommendations are for storage in proper conditions, i.e. 0 – 20C deg temps, no sun light, original package unopened.

Kris-

Nice post. I especially liked how one manufacturer claims engine oil has a one year shelf life while another claims an infinite shelf life. I guess pretty soon we will be seeing "Born On Dating" on motor oil, or maybe an expiration date. :2:

Like most medications

The Mfg's have a motive to use a short time. I would go for 10 years. Gasoline is another thing but then it's not really a primary lubricant.
