I am looking for recommendations for a luggage rack. When I drive home for Christmas, I'll have a couple of dogs with me and although I could probably fit us all in the Murano, it sure would be nice to put a couple pieces of luggage on the roof.

Here's my setup:

Yakima Towers and bars.

Most bike shops will carry the parts.

I also sprung for the locks that allow you to very securely tighten everything down and lock it all. Can't get away then, by itself or with help!



Not cheap, but easy to install and remove and very, very secure.

I agree with the Yakima Lowriders. I have them and they work great. I can install them or remove them in 5 minutes and they will work with almost any carrier system. You could purchase a cargo box, or a cargo basket to set on top of the Lowrider bars. I posted pictures of the Lowriders with a Thule Excursion 13 cf cargo box on the forum. Do a search to look at them.

About how much weight it safe? 50-75 lbs?

Luggage Rack for Christmas

The dogs can be strapped to roof rack also. There is nothing more exciting to a dog than to be in a 360 degree wind tunnel pushing 70MPH.
