I bought my Mo in April 2004. It's run trouble free so far. After reading about failed CVTs, failing on-board computers, and other problems, I'm now considering purchasing the Extended Service Plan. I've already done a search of the forum on this matter, but would like to solicit some updated opinions on whether to buy the extended service plan or not.
Once of the Finance Reps quoted me $1,500 at this point (11,000 miles). He says that it would be backdated to date of purchase and will cover me for another 5 years starting today (3 years past the regular warranty period). It covers most of the car (engine, powertrain, various moving parts, etc.). I understand that the features of these service contracts vary from dealer to dealer, but this one provides decent coverage of the big ticket items.
One sticky point is that the dealer will pay for a rent-a-car if they have to keep the car overnight because of the "repair work" that they are doing. However, if the car doesn't operate and it takes a few weeks for the part to arrive from the manufacturer, that's not considered to be the dealer's fault; thus, they wouldn't have to pay for the rent-a-car. very uncool, eh?
What do you guys think of the pricing?
