Murano not marketed

I am not seeing any Muranos in Nissan advertising commercials and today I got some marketing materials from Nissan reminding me that the lease on my 2020 Murano is coming due (December) and I should take a look at options. All other Nissan models listed and described - except for the Murano. That is not a good sign.

I don't think Nissan has ever marketed the Murano much. Since I got mine new in 2018 I have seen very little marketing.

Maybe they feel they don't need to?

I've seen them in just about every Nissan commercial for the last few months. But I agree that I don't see spots pushing ONLY the Murano. OTOH, I don't see Nissan spots exclusively promoting any individual model.

Even AI doesn't know if the Murano will be continued. Apparently its database is dated...

ChatGBT's answer:

Will there be a 2024 Nissan Murano?

As an AI language model, I don't have access to real-time information or future product release schedules beyond my knowledge cutoff in September 2021. At that time, the Nissan Murano was in production and available for sale. However, whether a new version of the Nissan Murano will be released in 2024 or beyond would require checking the latest updates from Nissan or contacting a Nissan dealership for the most accurate and up-to-date information on their product plans.

I see the same Aria EV ad regularly. Just after seeing this post I noticed a Rogue ad that I had seen before but never really took any notice of what specific vehicle it was promoting or even that it was for Nissan. It's the ad where there's a typical (upper?) middle aged dad type squinting at and fiddling with a small info screen in the competitor's vehicle while the spokesperson touts the impressively large screen in the Rogue. Never noticed this was for a Rogue before but did today.

I think was more consciously aware of the Aria ad because I find the spokesperson annoying. I don't know why exactly but she seems haughty or something that I find off-putting. The Rogue ad seems more of a nothing ad that doesn't annoy me so I never really paid attention to it and just wait for it to pass. But now that this discussion had me thinking about what gets promoted, I'm actually seeing the vehicles.

If there was a Murano redesign in the works, we would hear about it via leaks in the media. I have not seen any Murano in full-line Nissan ads over the last 2 years. This is the campaign headed up by Brie Larson--instead they are focused on the Ariya. It does not feel like Nissan is trying to increase sales numbers on the Murano.

At least a year ago I read that Nissan is finished with any new developments in internal combustion engines. They did move Murano production from Canton MS to Smyrna TN in 2021. Canton is being refurbed for EV production starting 2025.

Ford is also letting the Edge die off also; the Lincoln version (Nautilus) is rumored to be imported from China as soon as 2024.

It's funny but the 2015+ Murano, which I originally throught was too gaudy a design for most tastes, seems to be more fashionable today, among the other creased coke-bottle SUV designs by other companies. Makes me feel less conspicuous driving my Murano these days--I am certainly more used to the shape also.

They have done one individual Murano ad that I know of in recent years and that was I think in 2020. But this has been true for awhile. When they have a new one they will include it. I don’t think it is being discontinued. They would be talking about it like the Maxima. Not that I know anything. I do know when they do a redesign they are quiet until it drops.

The last 2 Murano full redesigns were kept pretty quiet. I was shopping for one in August 2007 and the redesign was imminent and I heard nothing. I decided knowing nothing but suspecting a new one I would take a chance on the 7. Which was a good move thankfully.
