Does anyone have any idea how the Murano is selling? I ask for several reasons. 1) You don't see many around. 2) You don't see TV ads much anymore. 3) The lots here in Charlotte are _loaded_ with '03s. 4) The lots have very, very few '04s. 5) They sold me a SE AWD, leather, preferred/touring package, sunroof, chrome wheels for a little over the base price. 6) The Nissan salesman said the FX35 was not selling well and might be discontinued (but he said this when I told him I was considering the FX35).

Does anyone have any hard numbers (and what they mean in terms of financial success or failure of the model)?

There were 4999 more (O3s) sold in October with 46,049 cars YTD.

and in November there was a mix of 03's and 04s (More 03's but we don't know the mix) and there
were 5435 sold with 51,484 YTD.

Allow them an additional 4000 Cars in Dec, and they will be somewhere around 55,000/57,000 cars YTD. Some o3s and some 04s.
Remember these figures are Nissan North America Sales figures. They are not a compilation of Dealer sales figures so there may be a couple of thousand on lots out there.

They anticipated sales of 50,000 year, so they are safely there.

However, to give you something to compare, there were 150,000 Toyota Highlanders sold last year. THey are far more common, obviously.

"IF" Nissan can sustain 50K units per year, then that's a good deal.
They will make money, and we won't be seeing MOs everwhere. Of course they are culmunitive , so in a few more years they will be quite common.

The upside of being common is the availabilty of aftermarket parts if that rings your bell.

It is now safe to say, that the Murano is successful.
Just be sure that people understand that it is a success considering what it's target number was.
It very likely will never sell as many as the Honda Pilot nor the Toyota Highlander. And that is a "good thing" IMO.

They "should" do an ad every now and then.
I getthe impression that 50K units may not be just a target, it may be capacity.
