Hello All,
Well I dont have one yet but I'm seriously considering on getting one. My SLK is just too small for the activities that I'm doing (whatever they are) and need to get a bigger one. Anyway, I am looking to get 04-05 SL AWD, can you guys tell me what possible porblems to look for? Also, what options and packages are available on those years? To me the nissan Murano is the most appealing mid sized SUV. Thanks in advance guys!

welcome to the forum. if you are looking at the 05, in my opinion, go for the 06 instead. since there really isn't that much difference in the price, you'll get a lot of upgrades (plus an extra year in the warranty).
just to give you an ideal, i got my 06 sl fwd, with all leather, sun roof, 6 mp3 cd in dash changer, intelligent key, color screen with back up camera, and adjustable xeron lights all for $32k. and the dealer threw in the floor mats as well.
as far as problems, knock on wood, but i really haven't had any. but i wouldn't get the gps option since you can get a hand held for a fraction of the onboard cost. plus the advantage of moving it from car to car.
anyways, good luck in what ever you decide!

thanks for the response 06murano.. you are right.. i guess i just want too much when i was trying to build an 06 online.. friggin $42K plus..? well i guess i could go for the SE premium package added, $33K with standard xenon, LED tails, 6 CD, leather/sunroof and whatever else is standard on the SE. Although I only have 30K budget.. but we'll see.. what's another 3K ... at least it will be a brand new..

Thanks!!

is the $33k for the car only? did you include taxes and fees, thats almost another $3k unless you live in a no-tax state...

i'm in oakland. got the car from Hanlees at Hilltop auto plaza. i paid $347xx for it plus tax and fees. its the lowest i can find among the local dealers in the color and model i want. evidently nobody in CA has a SE in sunset red/charcoal/touring/navi...closest one was in utah. so i settled for dvd instead of navi.

When talking about vehicle purchase price, the only number that matters is "XYZ under invoice." If you have to pay more than that, you are paying a premium for the popularity of that vehicle at the moment. The 06 Muranos might be popular now so prices are higher than normal, but it is likely that one can still find it for slightly under invoice, esp if you purchase it the Edmunds.com way and go through the internet manager. It only takes them a few minutes to answer an email, and if they can earn $500 on a vehicle doing less than an hour's work, that's a quick sale and easy profit for them.

BTW I purchased my Murano from McKevitt Nissan in Berkeley, CA. They are a smallish dealership, but had the exact model I wanted. They did not have an internet dept though, so I just got the price confirmed over the phone ($650 under invoice in Jun 2003). When I showed up, I managed to finagle it down to $1190 under invoice, a killer deal for a brand new MO. There were no incentives at the time.

i guess maximus96 is right.. lots of rattle.. Eric has it on his sig. I hate rattles.. that is why my past few cars are bmw and mb.. they are more rattle free than other manufacturers.. although that wont stop me from getting a murano, just have to get a year without that problem.

Surprisingly some of the rattles no longer exist. I guess whatever was rattling has somehow settled and gotten stuck, so the MO is mainly quiet now. I sometimes get a rattle when the window is partially down and I hit a bump, but usually the wind roar drowns it out so I don't notice anymore.

Seems like some of my rattles have gone away also. Just the passenger window creak, and B pillar popping.

As far as BMW check out the X3 boards, window creaking there too. MB, remember all the electrical problems that the early ML's had?

new Muano

A nice car to drive around in Northern CA. I lived there most of my life. Get a high quality radar detector, ie: Bell/Escort top of the line. MO goes like hell and with CVT, it is a cop magnet, unless you can stand to keep it at legal speeds. Darrell.
PS. had ours since Dec. of 02 and don't regret it. Just had 60K service done on it and did not cost an arm and leg, from independent garage. Dealer charges outragious rates!

It looks like it's time to amend your signature...

Congrats and good luck with your new MO.
