Hello,
Does anyone know how to remove the nissan connect icon from the Nav screen of a 2021 Nissan Murano Platinum? The icon is a car with a line across it on the top right corner of the nav screen when in map mode. I purchased the vehicle used a week ago from a dealer and the moment I first test drove the car we noticed this little car icon with a line across it at the top right corner of the nav system in Map mode. Annoying!!! I am not 100% sure it is the Nissan Connect icon but everything seems to point that way.

I have read the manual back & forth, searched the internet, even called the dealer trying to find a way to remove that annoying icon to no avail. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

TIA
Maizo

I seem to recall some members posting about that, which I thought had to with loss of signal for the car to properly uplink to Nissan for data transmission to see how the car is doing so they can possibly make improvements in newer models. I've never agreed via the head u it o allow Nissan to have that data, and I have no such icon on 3021. I suspect that if some chooses YES to allow data to be acquired, then a wireless network would have to be selected in order to facilitate that. Absent one, you may get the icon you described because Nissan Connect can't connect. I believe under the INFO icon on the second screen is the area for the vehicle data transmission screen which I ve ways just declined. I bet once you agree to allow that transmission that you can't undo it, so if the past owner allowed it and now you don't have a wireless network active you might see that icon

Just a guess

I think there have been a few mentions of car icons with something in or on them. I think the one had an antenna icon and the other a Bluetooth icon of sorts. Trying to be logical, I wonder if the platinum model comes with a card reader where the NAV maps are kept and accessed (thus the line representing the sd slot opening) and perhaps your card was removed. That one is a stretch....

It could be the previous owner had some subscription-based service that expired... I haven't done a search of this forum yet... I like guessing when nobody else is chiming in to at least provide some reasonable info that might help until it's figured out.

Cryogenix1 thanks for the response but no cigar. I had a similar thought about connecting the car to a wireless network so I connected it to my home network and the icon remained. I did use the connection to check that the software versions of the map and vehicle are up to date but the car icon remained as always with line across.

Per MuranoSL2003 recomendation I am posting a picture of the icon for those not familiar with it.

“When your Car system connects to the NissanConnectSM Data Center, an antenna icon will appear in the upper right corner of the screen. that symbol appears when the signal reception is good, the other Car with an-across-slash means reception is bad.”

Yes I suspect the signal reception is bad because I don't have a subscription to Nissan Connect (I also don't want one). I just want to remove the icon from the screen if possible.

Thanks for the response.

A slash instead of a line can make a big difference in determining things. In this case I don't think it matters. I didn't pay for any Nissan Connect service and as I said I declined the data transmission thing, so I'm guessing you're stuck with that icon if you've thoroughly gone through all the settings and disabled everything to be sure something isn't always trying to connect to something to update.

Aside from perhaps paying Nissan a service fee to program something to remove the icon, there are two things I would at least try in this order....

Go into the settings menu using the steering wheel controls and choose to reset to factory defaults. There may also be such a setting option in the head unit.

Remove the neg battery lead for a minute and then reconnect it. Before reconnecting it make sure that everything In the car is turned off and that all doors are closed in order to sidestep or minimize sparking.

BTW, there is a factory reset option in the head unit as well. It's under settings/others on screen two of settings. I'd reset both, just to cover all bases.
