Good day. Periodically, when I go to start the car, I place the fob in but the "engine start operation" indicator does not come on. This is the notification to press the brake when you are starting the car. When I press the brake it is very stiff and of course, the car does not start even if the brake is pushed. Sometimes I fiddle with it enough that the car starts though I have no idea what the magic order is of opening the door, engaging/unengaging the locks, etc> Any ideas on what the problem is as I missed an appointment today because the car would not start in time! The fob works otherwise.

Have you replaced the fob battery recently? (On the principle that you always start with the simplest thing that can cause the problem.)
