Cool PDF with some technical info on the ZF build CVT used in the Mini cooper.

Linky to mini message board post.


I know its not the same as the Murano CVT, but the basic concept is identical, except on a smaller scale.

Interesting... Same as the Murano's, same style Van Dorne belt, almost would swear it's made by Jatco... (Might be, they do supply a lot of people!)

What caught my eye was this:
The ECU or the TCU controls the transmission in one of the following modes. Again, extra
modes (economy, comfort, winter, …) could be integrated too:
1. Drive mode (normal CVT driving).
2. Sport CVT mode or Low CVT mode.
3. Manual mode.
4. Fault mode.
5. Reverse mode
And Nissan kept trying to tell us that S was not "Sport" mode... Sure drives like it to me...

Based on the number of CVT failures in the mini, I would not want our JATCO unit to be anywhere close to being associated with the ZF transmission.
