Hey all -

Currently lease an A4 and am pretty certain I'm going to lease a bigger vehicle next time as my vehicle needs have changed. I've been evaluating a few various sporty suv's, pretty much focuse on the Murano, FX35, and possibly the new 4-Runner.

I test drove the Murano a year or so ago, when it first came out. I was impressed, loved the styling, the engineering and designs, the engine, and the handling was impressive. (although the tires needed some more PSI) I was on the fence with the CVT though, having never driven a car with a CVT it was an odd sensation. Since driving it, I've read reviews of those with similar impressions, and my local dealership also informed me that the '04's are to have a shift-mode instead of the sport or low modes that the '03's have. Just wondering if any of the readers here have this new CVT and what are your impressions of it? I've driven Audi's tiptronic automatic transmission, have been impressed with that, hoping Nissan pulled off a similar feeling tranny. (Currently have a manual, wish the Murano offered a manual, but could get used to the CVT)

Has anyone used the roof rack yet? How sturdy is it? (plastic, aluminum construction?) Also, has anyone towed a trailer yet? I'm guessing it's a class 3 hitch? Reason I ask is I've begun to do woodworking on the side, and will have the occasional need to haul lumber. Nothing big, but I'd like the ability to throw some 2x4's or molding up top on the roof rack, or be able to tow a small trailer. (hence the reason the 4-Runner is on my list, given it's solid axle in the back)

My lease is up in May, so I've just begun to start thinking about my next vehicle. By the way, how are the deals on the Muranos? Selling around invoice price? Anyone here lease a Murano? - what are the payments about? I currently do a 15,000 mile per year lease.

Thanks for the info. guys.... I'm hoping to free up some time soon and go test drive one of the 04's. :)

Please read this thread. There is lots of info here.

The CVT is great, provides the best of both worlds, manual and automatic. The JATCO CVT in the MO handles more torque than any other on the market, and is the only one that handles a 3.5L. The MO is the only vehicle on the market using a CVT that supports AWD and has a tow rating. A prototype CVT that handles even more torque has been built and may be found in full size vehicles in the future. http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=245

No problems towing within the tow limit class II - 3500lbs tow and 300lbs tongue weight. OEM and several aftermarket hitches are avaliable. http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1119

OEM roof rack not available, aftermarkets are. Yakima seems to be the most popular. I don't know of any roof racks that are not aluminum. http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=797

Lease depends on your specific parameters, http://www.nissanmurano.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1143
