I have an escort 8500 X50 hardwired into the side pillar on the drivers side. Its all the way up near the visor and is completely out of view from anywhere but inside the car and the windshield.

thanks Sw1tched and larry1960,
how did the unit mount? on the post or on the visor? some of the visors don't point the unit horizontal and the lickem and stickem on the windshield don't look too professional.

I have a beltronics 985 that came with a visor clip. I actually slid it just under the headliner. Works great and best part you can't see it from the outside unless you really look.

Installation picture is in my gallery. Click button below this message.

Gonzo, Thanks for the pic. Never sure how some of the visor clips work with different visor angles. Clipped under headliner seems to work great.

I love it there since its pretty much hidden. Only thing is that you can't use the sun visor... thats OK I wear my sun glasses.

As promised, here are the couple of pictures of my installation. I do not like to use the sunvisor clip, because I believe that radar need to be pointed out thru the clear window (no tinted) for better performance.

I have the same setup as Murano_driver (Escort 8500 X50) and its very nicely integrated. The wire pops out from the mirror area and is completely non-intrusive. Very easy to install too.

That’s right. I followed somebody’s instructions on this forum and it took 15 min to set the direct wire up. I spend most of that time trying to take out the screw for the ground wire connection. I destroyed 2 or 3 screwdriver bits.

Here is outside view, but radar is almost invisible without sunlight (take my word for it).
I was just noticing how clean the interior of your windshield is....

It was just that you had said you needed to wash your car, but in on of your pictures there is a big reflection of the detector indicating to me that your window from the inside was very clean.

It was a complement on how clean the interior was. :4:

The antennas go behind the grill and the back bumper The noise makers go inside the ac vents the switches go under the dash all custom installed by a K40-dealer They are coming out with a new one that is blue tooth Just hook up power Real cool . I am a custom installer and own a retail store in the NY area

Have a nice day
