On a very few occasions I notice a raw gasoline smell coming from under the right rear wheel well. It has happened only a few times and the dealer has not found a leak. Any idea what might be causing this? My commute is only 4miles so it might be a rich condition under certain circumstances, but I'm not sure. I just don't like the idea of having a potential gas leak.

Thanks!

RIGHT rear well?

No idea.

I believe the evaporative cannister is located under the left rear well.
Sometimes they leak.
Usually throw the Check engine light, but not always.

Until the engine is warm, it will run rich. It's how they are designed. It may or may not be the cause.

When I took it to the dealer there were no codes, nor, obviously, did the check engine light go on. It just seems strange.

It is most likely due to your short trips, the engine is still running in open loop (rich) mode. In such a case, the exhaust will have more uncombusted hydrocarbons, and you can smell that.
