Hi guys!

Ok this happened last winter when I was parking the car and accidently went too fast over the ice and hit a small trunk tree.
There was a small dent but no rusting so I thought I wait a while before I do anything. Today I saw the rust building on the rear fender. I think I should do something about this before it progresses further. Any ideas? Should I put paint on it or sand it with sand paper first? Put a primer on?

Thanks,

Well covering it up with paint won't do anything, since the rust will continue underneath. Best bet would be to have a shop sand it down and refinish it.

It'll be cheaper to fix it now than to wait a year.

Your best bet is to stop at a couple body shops and get an estimate. It shouldn't take much more than 5 minutes for them to look at and give you an idea of what it'll cost.
