fyi fellow MO owners..........

NNA (Nissan of North America) did NOT know the g35 cables and receiver would work in the 03 MO's....

their sat .specialist was very enthused to find this out, and is working with grubbs to see about this as well.......

Hopefully there is now raised awareness of this (i really hope a retro fit idea gets carried out as well.....)

i dont expect something for nothing, but my dealer did explicitedly tell me that my MO was sat READY (not to be confused with capable)......

i think a good deal on the components would sure be in order (especially since the 04's have the EXACT same cables already in their bellies!!)

time will tell.... i will report back here when i know more....

With all due respect to the NNA sat specialist, I think they're feeding you a bunch of :bsflag:

Within a week of Jaak saying that he had figured out the configuration of the cable and could start making them for us to purchase, NNA released a bunch of wiring harnesses....for the G35, of course. And once we started buying them and the tuners in quantities, they started requiring VIN numbers before they would allow the sale apparently to ensure that the Infiniti customers had some available for them. Coincidence? I don't think so.

I haven't quite figured out why Nissan screwed up this SAT issue like they did, but I would bet a month's salary that it had nothing to do with their being unaware of the interchangeability of the parts.

Thanks JP for setting the record straight. (I've been too busy to get on the board lately...)

By the way, I've had it confirmed by two people that it was not a coincidence that it was released a week later.

It would have been faster but Nissan Marketing are slow readers.:D

Hey thanks!

It burned my behind when they claimed it didn't work. Sure looked like it did to me. I got annoyed enough that I got a receiver for an FX ('cause it came with one of the connectors on the harness and the G's harness was being held back) put it with a harness for someone else's Nissan compatible CD changer, plugged it in and there it was, SATing away.... The rest is history!

It's a thing of beauty and kicks any aftermarket solution both in fidelity into the OEM head unit and convenience.

Has anybody installed the XM in a 2004 MO? They are supposed to be prewired for the XM radio, but I have no idea where the harness is. Anybody have any ideas?

i have heard the new harness is intact, and ends around the bose amp (behind RHS rear seats)

if/when you find it, pleae take a pic or two...... i wanna run my harness as close to oem as possible.... (that area is a bit unclear for me.....once you get past the front pass door, im not sure where exactly it goes)

There's a plastic guide for both doors on the passenger side, then you just tie wrap it to the existing harness that goes to the Bose, under the carpet. It's pretty straight forward.

That's basically where the 2004's is as well.

What boggles me is this:

A while back, when they issued the restriction on the Infiniti wiring harness, there was a note on the notice. It said "dealers, get this harness now to upgrade your non-sat customers before we stop making the harness". The way it was stated made it seem (quite clearly) that Nissan was directing dealerships to get their completely non-sat-wired G35 coupes into the shop for wiring if the owners wanted Sat.

So why isn't Nissan doing this for the Murano? Do they plan to? They only have one year's worth of cars to handle, I don't think it would be too hard to wrangle all Muranos who have owners who want SAT...

I know I wouldn't mind a notice in the mail from my dealership, saying "bring your MO in for sat-wiring within the next month"...

Nissan email to me about SAT got it today:
Dear James :

Thank you for contacting Nissan North America, Inc., about your 2003
Murano. On behalf of Nissan, I will assure that it is our sincere desire
to offer satisfactory customer service to all our customers.

Nissan acknowledges your concern about the availability of Satellite
Radio in the Murano. Due to challenges in the installation process, and
our commitment to not compromise quality standards in order to launch a
new technology, the satellite radio option will be offered only to
vehicles that are factory pre-wired. The 2003 Murano is not pre-wired and
at this time.

If you have any further questions, please contact me at 800.NISSAN1 and
refer to file # 4331590.

Sincerely,

Joseph S.

I guess its ok for the Infiniti dealers to install the harness on Infiniti's but not M-O's.

Here is my posted reply:

Dear Joseph,
Then WHY are you having Infiniti dealers do the install on G35's (coupe) and instructing them to get it done soon before you stop production on the harness. I know of 50 Murano owners including myself that have purchased the harness and installed it ourselves. Seems like the Infiniti vechicles come before the Nissan brand vechicles. At times it also seems that Nissan does not care about its customers which will eventually come back to haunt you. Right now your whole line-up is poised to give GM,Ford,Toyota and Honda a run for its money. Finally a car company that is answering comsumers needs. Once a consumer purchases that vechicle, Nissan better not ignore their needs. Customer loyalty to Nissan products better be #1 on your list. Because a Nissan owner is a future Nissan buyer. A Happy Nissan owner breeds other Nissan buyers through word of mouth and recommendations. Telling us all the hard truth is better than telling us lies/BS.

Thanks you for your prompt response!

Sincerely,

J Valentine

Yeah, you definitely have them by the nads with that G35 bit. That memo was never supposed to get out, but we got it, and it clearly states that those Infiniti dealers should "satisfy their non-sat customers" by installed the famous pre-wire cable and receiver/antenna in any non-sat G35.

Go fig. Yeah, I was being logical again :p

It's such a joke, and "we are committed to quality standards" is a load of BS. No, the cable we're installing was not installed at the factory. Yes, we are pulling off trim and plastic and routing cables through an already 'buttoned up' vehicle. No, we're not damaging anything. Yes, we're getting flawless Sat radio.

I swear, these guys are jokers. This is going on my six month survey.
