After nearly 4 years of owning a 2015 Platinum at 55,000 Miles I have to say goodbye.

The endless list of problems that were mostly covered under warranty - I could see where this was going long term. A buddy of mine has a MO (we bought 3 weeks apart) and he doesn't have the same issues - so I guess I'm the unlucky lemon owner! In turn I bought a 2016 Highlander - mostly for reliability and it's a great replacement!

My Nissan dealer was phenomenal, but wanted to give a shout out to the folks on here, love the knowledge, the passion and suggestions when trying to diagnose a problem. All the best to you all and keep those MO's rolling!

I have a 2017 with 16 warranty claims in 24 months. All of them acknowledged and fixed by the dealer. So I'm not crazy.

I dont think issues are related to the first year model of this car.

Vortex - What are some of the issues that you had?
Just off the top of my head...

Driver seat heating/cooling module failed.

Passenger side power mirror failed.

Rear passenger seat motor failed.

Positive battery terminal corroded and needed to be replaced.

Rear passenger side wheel well fell off and tire put a hole in it.

3 out of 4 wheels were not balanced from factory.

Bluetooth connectivity issues.

I cant recall all of them right now. I would have to go through all the paperwork..

Like I said, Nissan was great and without any hassle repaired the items. It's just frustrating that a new car has so many issues...

besides the recalls (esp the double-recall on the abs), my 2015 sl fwd w/30k hasn't been too bad. I have the annoying reflection from the vent trim on the side windows and I had the electric power steering pump whine, but otherwise, I haven't had any issues. I also had some corrosion on the positive battery cable but caught it before it had progressed far and chalked that up to the battery itself.

It most likely was built on a Friday due to the wheel balance and wheel well falling off issue. The exhaust tips also weren't aligned.

What concerns me though is the failure of all the components. That cant be a Friday related thing. That's just cheap quality components put into the car. A power mirror, seat motor, harnesses and electronics failing after months of ownership cant be blamed on the assembly line. At least I dont think considering they worked perfectly fine for first few months.

So just beware......

Its also the first model year. And they went from buliding them in Japan to building them in Tennessee. I can see where thered be issues, especially if they hired new crew to ramp up production on Muranos.

I have the same year and model Murano. What kind of problems did you have with it?
Panoramic Sunroof had excessive wind noise
Illuminated Kick Plates replaced 3 times, they kept burning out.
Dimmed lights in the cabin - over time they went completely out (relay)
Fast left turn signal - (Bulb/Relay)
Batteries dying on the FOB continually, requiring monthly replacement of battery
Hatch would not open, sensor and assembly replaced.
Driver door will not open from inside, need to roll window down and open with exterior handle
Brakes prematurely wearing in the back 12 months after replacement already at 3mm
2nd sensor for power hatch has now failed on my dime, requiring replacement $1500. This is a known issue/design flaw.
Front wheel issue undiagnosed - I couldn't take it anymore!

The car has spent many overnights at the dealer as they try and diagnose issues. The last straw was the failed power hatch sensor...

Completely agree. I really really like the car, and had planned to drive it until dead. However, the more I learned about Nissan and seeing that match up with my experience I had to bail. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a transmission replacement or engine issue around the corner.

Mine is a 2016 SV.... lots of issues with it....

radio bluetooth connection failing,
Ac had to be changed 2 years afteri bought it new,
they had to change my whole transmission,
they had to replace the transfer case,
they had to replace one link kit,
one chuck had to be replaced too,
lots of rattles,
diplay radio problems and not fixed yet after over 6 appointements...
they had to replace my set of headlights because water was going inside the headlights and the plastic of the headlights was burning from the inside too so it was crakeling.

I love my car but damn... for a car sucha a murano, we should not have that much trouble when you buy it brand new
.. its not a freakin volkswagen....
