My 2008 Sentra had black team by fluid so I took the vehicle in to have it changed. The manager at Midas said that while it was indeed black, there were probably "polymers" built up in the fluid and recommended I not change the team by fluid. What was he talking about? And isn't really bad to leave black oil ? Why did he suggest I not change it? Thanks!

I don't know what "team by fluid" is, perhaps it's a translation problem. The correct test for CVT fluid requires a special tool which (I assume) tests for breakdown and contaminants. Even dealerships sometimes don't know this. Conventional transmission fluid benefits from a change every 30K miles or so; whether to power flush it is a source of controversy. In theory, CVT fluid doesn't need changed unless the test device indicates the need for it, but many forum members have replaced it around 100K miles and reported slight improvement in the transmission's feel.
