I am a CS major and I am honestly curious. Also does every team use the same language or does it differ from team to team?
That is a really odd question to ask on a Nissan Murano forum. You're better off posting on an F1 fan site. I haven't followed that sport in years, but IIRC those cars are built from the ground up by each team--some with manufacturer backing.

The ECM and other control units in normal cars are basically embedded systems and in that arena, C is the most dominant language and to a lesser extent C++. Assembly language native to the microprocessor may be used depending on the application. My guess is that it's the same in race cars, especially since the engines themselves are typically manufactured by an automaker (e.g. ferrari, honda, etc). If you think you may want to program ECMs for a living, I would suggest checking the job postings for ECM manufacturers (e.g. Bosch) and see what programming languages they expect their applicants to be proficient in.
