Hey guys,
I'm thinking of buying a Nissan Murano. I've been doign some research on teh CVT sytem, and found that there are different types of CVT's. I was just wondering if any of you knew which type of CVT this was.

PS. The info on teh different type of CVT's I found at

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/cvt.htm

which are pulley systems, toroidal systems, and hydrostatic systems.

I dont think its a hydrostatic.

Thanks

It is a "belt and pulleys" CVT manufactured by JATCO. It is their model JF010E specifically designed for engines up to 3.5L.

What makes this particular CVT so unique is that the belt runs in compression, not tension. The drive pulley actually pushes on the belt.
